Why Don't You See Famous Youtubers Posting Their Videos on Facebook?

pewdiepie for instance. Why don't you ever see his videos on Facebook?

I mean, he's insanely famous on Youtube. The biggest (?) or at least one of the biggest "stars" on youtube, but why would he settle with youtube traffic alone? .. Every freelancer and seller knows that exposure is vital for success. This guy is already successful like crazy, but why don't he or any of the other famous youtubers post their videos on Facebook or other social media platform to build up even larger audience?

Is it because they would break any contracts or something like that?

There's a chance that once you get that big you'll be approached by Google and they want you to solely push your videos through youtube. Google will most likely offer a larger profit per measure for the views on the videos as long as the publisher is putting their videos solely on youtube. This is what I would do, so I'm sure that's one of the reasons why they do it as well.

I wonder if you are getting paid by youtube for your video views if there's something in the terms that says you can only post your videos on their platform. It makes sense that if youtube is paying you for your video views that they want you to put your video only on their website because if it were anywhere else it would pull away from their own website. No website owner wants to lose traffic to their competitor, even Youtube/Google

Hey Razzy,
Yeah, I would have to agree with you. It has to be something like that, I can't see a reason for these people NOT promoting their videos on other social media platforms to build a larger audience, so if what you've stated above is accurate, then I'd have an answer for it. It sounds like a proper and valid reason, so my guess is, that you're right. Or at least, that you're onto something.

YouTube is very large social network it self. So if someone is already famous on YouTube, i guess it would be waste of time to spend more time on another social network while you can focus on making new great video to entertain your subscribers. Making even short video need good amount of time to produce if you are serious vloger, so i would personally always input more time in quality videos then jump around to promote my older and already popular videos. We are talking here about vloggers who have million(s) of subscribers, plus to mention that you need time to come up with new ideas for videos all the time. These guys already published tons of videos and i often ask my self how the heck they coming with so many ideas to publish once or few times per week?... They are great

I see your point anwebservices, but a facebook fan page for instance, isn't that hard to create. Once created, they could easily just post their most recent videos on there to build up their fan base even more. I do understand that these people have millions of subscribers and all that, but a simple post on a Facebook page could bring them even more subscribers.. I don't see the reason for them to avoid Facebook and not posting their content on there. It has to be because of them violating rules or something like that, in case they would spread their content on other social media platforms.

I didn't see anything like that in the Youtube terms and conditions, or maybe I missed it.

I share my Youtube videos on Facebook but I don't upload them to Facebook. Are you talking about why don't Youtubers upload their videos to Facebook or why don't they share their Youtube videos on Facebook?

I can understand why they wouldn't upload the actual video itself to Facebook. If their channel is monetized then putting it on Facebook would be giving the video away for free when they could be earning from Youtube.

But if they are not sharing their Youtube videos on Facebook I can't understand why they wouldn't do this.

Honestly, I don't think it's within their terms and conditions. As those would be for "regular" users so to speak. I know for a fact that famous Youtubers have different rates. Pewdiepie for instance, would obviously earn more than the rest of the top 20 Youtubers as he's channel has a ridiculous amount of subscribers.. The more famous you are, the more you earn, it's the same with Twitch.tv. That being said, these kind of things would be stated somewhere within their contracts, and I bet that's the reason they don't share their videos on other social media platforms.

I thought it was due to the Youtubers not gaining revenue from Facebook if they were to upload the video directly onto facebook. Youtubers will go where the money flows. If they can not earn money from social platforms, then why upload videos there? They want their money, they are "celebrities" now, and therefore they will only go where the money is.

On a side note: I think it's neat how everyday people can upload videos, gain popularity, and then monetize their videos and gain celebrity status. It's easy, and just about anyone can do it. There are downfalls, however in the long run of things it all seems to pan out perfectly.

You are correct Everett. I should probably have been more clear in my post. What I mean is why these famous Youtubers doesn't share their videos on Facebook. So they can build a bigger audience and get more exposure. All freelancers know that's the way you'll do things if you're looking to generate income. But these people doesn't do that, at all. Not a single time.

I never noticed this actually but come to think of it it's true. Could it be that now that they are so famous they have some sort of contract, and if they were to post their videos on Facebook they might be infringing it? If they post a video in one place only there is going to be a higher concentration of views in that one place, rather than only a percentage of total views. I think that could be the only reasonable reason why they refrain from posting their videos on Facebook.

What I usually post on Facebook is the link to our video on YouTube. At least when a friend clicks that link then it goes to YouTube and plays the video. That gives a point of the view count. But when I post a video directly on Facebook, it can be played more conveniently but we get nothing out of it. So if I am a famous YouTuber then I will also refrain from posting my video on Facebook because it’s like giving the video away for free. It earns something on YouTube and that is the crux of it.
