Is any of view going to big online marketing events where maybe prominent online marketer will share their experience?
I used to be very skeptical about this type of events. Thought it was a waste of time and can teach me nothing I can already learn online.
At my current workplace am I somehow obligated to go and represent our agency to such events.
Thing is I started to really look forward in going to new events now, you learn a lot of more experienced people, you hear a lot of stories that are never told outside these events and overall you gain a lot of knowledge.
But the most important thing you can do is make connections. Real connections that can help you later in your career. The connections I've made by going to conferences have even gained me backlinks in the last few months.
So what is your take on marketing conferences?

Now I've also been to events where you go in thinking that it's going to be all fun, games and making connections. But in reality it's a corporation throwing the event in order to get everyone to sign up. They push their products down your throat until you can't breath and just open up your wallet. These types of events are miserable because you're always being asked to sign up for THE BEST SOFTWARE IN THE WORLD!!!!! or something along those lines.
When I go to an event I want to feel welcomed, I don't want to be seen as a piece of meet with a credit card just waiting to be harvested. Give me a small get together or event where the advertisers are paying the bill and there are some good speakers and I'll go every time
