I can't say that I've ever had a mentor, at least not in the same way that people are hiring "gurus" to teach them certain things. - But, I am curious to know if anyone actually had a mentor at any point?

Paying in to a mentorship sounds a bit odd. If you can pay for it, then I would expect a lot of other people could do the same thing. This means you would have much less time with the mentor since he or she would have to split time between everyone.
Also, whenever I hear someone say they're a "guru" I always get annoyed because I probably have 10+ years more experience than they do and I still don't consider myself a "guru" lmao
