Hire Article Writers. - Go with one or two people?

Hey guys,
I have a question for all of you..
When I wrote one of my previous ebooks, I hired a guy to proof read the entire thing.. And when he was done, I hired another guy, who rewrote the content. - And now, I'm thinking about doing something similar with article writers.

For instance, hire one person who'll do some research and write "sloppy articles". Just to get the ball rolling so to speak.. And to come up with new ideas for content.

And after that, go with a really great article writer, who'll rewrite the articles.

What do you think about it? - Is that a good approach or would you rather stick with only one person for this?

hmmmm, this might be good and bad at the same time.

It could be good because:

You can hire the sloppy writer to get the basic idea down and pay him or her much less than a quality writer.
Having the sloppy articles ready for a rewrite will make it easier for the good writer to know what needs to be done.
The good writer would most likely charge you less because you already have the entire concept of the article written up and he or she just has to rewrite it which takes much less time. And we all know time is money

It could be bad because:

The pricing could make you actually pay more than if you were to just hire a good writer at the start. If the sloppy writer charges you $2 per article and the good writer charges you $4 for a rewrite, but the good writer normally charges $5 for a good article, you could be spending more. Obviously this won't happen in 99% of cases, but you never know
You could be making more work for yourself than if you were to just hire a good writer. Managing 2 different writers is tougher than managing one good writer.
It could take more time overall to get an article finished since your good writer would have to wait on the sloppy writer to finish up their work before the good writer could begin. Even though the good writer can churn out quality articles quickly, you never know how long it will take the sloppy writer to finish up. Remember, time is money

I would think that it would be better to compile a large list of articles you already like and then send the links over to the good writer and ask them to rewrite something that is already good. This way you're cutting out the sloppy writer, saving time and money, and you'll most likely be much happier in the end. And the good thing about doing it this way is that the good writer will have a lot less headaches because they will be rewriting something that is already written well and they won't have to piece together a horribly written article from someone you paid.

Thank you very much Razzy. I thought about this a bunch of times before I made this topic, and I do agree with all of your points. However, let's say I can find someone who'll do "the sloppy articles along with the research" for $1 or $2. Or perhaps hire that guy for a fixed amount of $50 for a week. - If I could get a handful of ideas from that person and then hire a good article writer who'll use the ideas, and the "sloppy articles" to write a great article out of it.. It shouldn't cost me as much as it would if they should come up with something totally new and fresh themselves, right? - At least that's how I'm thinking..

But all in all, I might just pay as much as I would've paid for the good article writer to come up with something from scratch, and then it would be a waste of time.

I think that it is better to assign the work from the start to someone whom you can trust and who can offer a good quality service. If you are going to do it the way you described, you are going to prolong the process a great deal, and you might end up paying much more because you are going to have to pay two people.

Yeah, thank you Elitewriter. I definitely see your point here and I totally understand why I would end up paying more, if I don't do this properly. And I can also see that I'll have to wait for a longer period of time, due to the two different workers. But let's say I'm doing this for my own blog. To reduce the actual time I'm writing blog posts myself. - You're an article writer. Would you charge me full price if I gave you a "draft" of an article to rewrite etc?

I'm not so sure about using two writers Andre. I can certainly understand the process of why you are wanting to use two writers but my line of thinking is that sloppy is just sloppy.

If the sloppy person is doing the research then the research is sloppy. You are giving a quality writer sloppy research that may just be a half assed attempt at covering all the points.

Another thing that I highlighted in a previous discussion is that I don't mind paying higher prices for quality services. This means I am supporting the people that charge more for a really good job done. I don't want to support any of the cheap "sloppy" services.

I would rather pay the quality person to do the job properly from the start.

Maybe using 2 writers would work some of the time but I believe that a good article starts from good research right in the beginning.

Hey Lynne & thank you for your answer. I can totally see why it would be better to stick with one writer instead of two. - Just like I usually do, I'm just thinking out loud and I think about different things from different angles. I want to see things from other people's perspective.

Perhaps it's both easier and better to stick with one good writer instead of working with one good and one "bad" writer at the same time. However, the intention wasn't to really work with the "bad" writer more than just hire him to get some decent ideas, which I could tell the good writer about. - But I totally agree with you on the last part you said:

It's nice to have a team of writers for that purpose of writing articles. Let writer A do the draft and pass it to B for the improvement. Then you get to sign the approval for the final version. Next time, let writer B do the draft and writer A to review and enhance. That's only 2 writers in one team and it will do. However, you will have a problem when one writer goes away because you will be left with just one writer. Maybe if the writing project is continuous and quite big as one article to write each day then you can have a team of 3 writers.

I will never go with another writer as long as the writer I am working with can deliver the kind of article I want. I once hired a writer to write on fashion niche. She delivered me good article, when I asked her to do an article on health, he delievered good articles, therefore, I continued working with her. However, when I asked her to write on literature, she delivered poor. I assigned another writer to write for me.

I don't think that you can expect a sloppy writer to do a good researching job. Likewise, it may be too much as well to expect the good writer to make something solid or remarkable from the garbage produced by the sloppy writer. You will likely end up paying more as the good writer will charge the same rate whether he/she is doing a rewrite or creating an original article. You'll be better off by hiring the good writer from the get go.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your strategy. you're just applying the slogan that "Two heads are better then one hear" the only snag is spending more money but if it fine by you then you continue that way.It always good to have more people involved so that a mistake Mr A couldn't detect at least Mr B will see it and of course the result will be error free job.

If you want contents on various topics, I think having more than one writers writing for you will be good. Every one has his own style and having many writers will get you content with a different kind of writing style. However, if you are looking for articles on the same niche, there is no need for the other writer.
